Ac charging piles have low power and slow charging speed, while DC charging piles have high power and fast charging speed but high cost. The power range of DC charging pile is 30KW-360KW. In the case of high-power charging, such as buses, split charging pile is generally used. The configuration of one machine and four guns is adopted to facilitate charging of multiple vehicles at the same time. It is estimated that an electric car can be fully charged in two to three hours with a DC charging post, while it takes eight to 10 hours with an AC charging post.
The main differences are as follows:

1. Ac charging pile

Both input and output of ac charging pile are AC. Generally, there are seven wires at the interface. The seven wires are as follows:
L and N: two ac power cables
PE: ground wire, in the charging connection process, first connected to the protection ground contact, finally connected to the confirmation contact and charging connection confirmation head; In the process of disconnecting, the control confirmation joint and charging connection confirmation joint are first disconnected, and the ground wire is finally disconnected
CC: charging connection confirmation
CP: control confirmation
NC1, NC2: standby contacts
Ac charging pile volume is generally smaller than dc charging pile box, because its charging speed is a little slower than DC, that is to say, AC charging pile only provides power output function, in fact, there is no charging function, when connected with the car charging machine for the car. That is to say, it needs the help of a car charger to charge, so its power is generally not very large, generally 3.5KW, 7KW, 15KW, etc..

2. Dc charging pile

The DC charging pile contains 9 contacts, which are as follows:
DC+ and DC-: indicates the positive and negative terminals of the DC power supply
PE: protected area
S+, S- : CAN communication, communication between non-on-board charger and electric vehicle
CC1, CC2: charging confirmation
A+, A- : positive and negative poles of auxiliary source
Due to the large output power, the general specifications of DC charging pile are 30KW, 60KW, 80KW, 120KW, 150KW, 180KW, etc.
